valley waterski resort Not many waterski sites can claim to have perfect conditions. Especially when you value calm water and a beautiful scenery. |
The waterski
lagoon 10
minutes away from the airport is one of those “dream locations” we
all dream about. It has been found in 1998 by Holger, who immediatly started
working to get his paradise waterskicamp together. After a year of tremend ous
efforts he had the best waterski place on Sri Lanka and possibly in whole Asia
up and running.A tournament waterski boat on a secluded lagoon like calm river surrounded by palm trees. Wakeboarders, trickers and free-riders have access to a 15 kilometer long and only 70 metres wide „runway“ with natural obstacles e g. stranded lumber and old trees hanging in the water. Locals sending out happy screams from the banks once they spotted a „whity“ performing his moves. Slalom cracks master the course right infront their bungalows and the breaking waves of the Indian Ocean. A sand bank prevents the sea waves from rolling in. One of the few places in the world, where you find excellent conditions for skiing, surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing at the same time, on sweet-water or the indian ocean, that is up to you... The Coach  Holger
runs a waterski school in Germany during the summer months and has coaching
experience for slalom skiing, tricks and wakeboarding. He also is a licensed
watersport instructor for windsurfing and kitesurfing. You wi ll notice his
enthusiasm for all kinds of watersports, which keeps him up-to-date with the
latest trends and developments of training methods and new products. No matter
what skiing level, Holger will analyse your trouble shooters and corrects them
step-by-step. It is making his day already, when your skiing is improving. This
is why he simply banned the water-banana, ringos and jet-skis out of his camp.
The ski experience may be quite the opposite of what you may be used to. There is right-at-the-site accomodation available or you chose the RANWELI HOLIDAY RESORT, just 300 meters away. This is the perfect setup to make i t an ultimate waterski holiday, also for non-skiers !!! |
At the waterski

and the dock is based at the so called BOAT CLUB. It is a privat property,
owned by Holger`s partner Dennis Jayawardena, a 55 year old former
SriLankanAirlines Chief stewart. Dennis has completed his dream house at the
lagoon in 1997. He loves fishing and good food. Visitors will notice that he
enjoys a simple live – that man lived in luxury for over 35 years –
and doesn`t need it anymore. In my 2001, his retirement gave him the time to
fully concentrate on the BOAT CLUB. From season 2001/ 2002 onwards, he is ready
to welcome you in three new bungalows right-at-the-site plus a snack-bar next
to the dock, overlooking the lagoon with slalom course and the sandbank with
the Indian Ocean behind. |
What else  Several excurions can be organized individually
– everything is obligatory and there are many different programs to choose
from. To be absolutely independant, hire one of the inexpensive vans and a
driver will show you th e most interesting sights in the area. So no stressful
sightseeing at Holger´s camp. Remember: you are on vacation! You can
easily go on a 2-3 day discovery tour, relax and come back to get ready for
another training sess ion. If you like to travel on a small budget, this is the
place to go to get your money´s worth. Comparing a week at Holger´s
camp in Sri Lanka to a week in Florida, it is fair to say that you will only
spend about half. So, what about local food? The rich buffets at the hotel
offer a large selection and variety of local delicacies adjusted to european

| My personal
advice: My personal advice Holger`s place is for all levels in skiing and wakeboarding & also attractive for non-skiers. It is a dream location and there are no minus points on the list. Go for a five day island trip and spend a week or two at the RANWELI VILLAGE to ski with Holger. |
